Tell your County Leaders: We Need Them to Protect Reproductive Freedom!

Reproductive freedom is a fundamental human right – and it's under threat.

That is why we need our elected officials at every level to do everything in their power to protect reproductive freedom, including access to abortion care, and contraception. We are asking all of our local officials to follow the lead of Montgomery County Councilmember Kate Stewart. Councilmember Stewart knows that abortion is health care, and access to health care is a human right, which is why she introduced a resolution to protect reproductive rights in her county. That resolution unanimously passed in the Montgomery County Council on September 10th. We need to call on our county leaders across Maryland to follow her lead and ensure that our rights are protected at every level of government.

Together, we can ensure that reproductive freedom gets local recognition across our state.

I'm writing to you today to urge you to follow Montgomery County Councilmember Kate Stewart's lead and commit our county to protecting the right to reproductive freedom.

Reproductive freedom is a fundamental human right, and it is under attack. We need to protect this fundamental human right  at every level of government to ensure that everyone can access the reproductive healthcare they need, including abortion and contraception.

I'm calling on you as my representative to stand up for our fundamental freedoms and protect reproductive rights in our county by introducing and passing a similar resolution to the one unanimously passed by the Montgomery County Council on September 10th. State and local governments play an important role in ensuring the US upholds its human rights obligations. Please ensure that no one is criminalized for a pregnancy outcome, or a circumstance surrounding their pregnancy, nor anyone who provides abortion care or helps someone obtain an abortion. All people should have access to abortion care when they need it, because abortion is health care and access to healthcare is a human right.
